Brief History of TNHS
Tagoloan National High School started as a night high school with two classrooms: one section for the 1st yr. and one for the second year with 3 classroom teachers. Sharing its school site with Tagoloan Central School, the newly opened secondary school was then named Tagoloan Night High School.
1972-73 saw Tagoloan Night High School evolving into a 4-classroom school and at the end of the school year, the 1st batch of graduates was produced. As the population increased, and the lack of classroom becoming a pressing problem, the school saw the necessity of offering a 2-session school program. Hence, the Day and the Night session were created.
It was not until 1994 through the effort of Mayor Paulino Y. Emano that TNHS was finally transferred to its permanent school site provided by the Local government. With a school site of its own, temporary classrooms were constructed through the initiative of Mayor Paulino (Oloy) Yap Emano. It was during this year that the night session was completely phased out and the name changed to Tagoloan National High School.
As the student population increased steadily, it became necessary for TNHS to expand—more classrooms were constructed and more teachers were hired to answer the increasing need of the students.
At present, TNHS ranks the 2nd biggest public secondary school in the division of Misamis Oriental with 52 classrooms serving 3,577 students. It has 80 faculty and staff, 75 are teachers 6 of whom are master teachers, a school nurse, 1 administrative assistant 3, 1 administrative assistant 2 (deployed), 3 head teachers and a principal I position occupied by Mrs. Severa S.
